The
'Société d'Encouragement au Progrès' awarded
a silver medal to Pierre Cherbit for his works on
the 6th of December 2003.
Speech
of Mr Guy Privat,
Vice President of the 'Société d'Encouragement
au Progrès'
Chief Executive Officer of Edi-Presse
"You are non-conventional painter, while hardly any of your paintings
are commercialised, your name is already
quoted by eminent figures who
compare your art to that of the greatests.
After growing up in the light of Leonardo
da Vinci and Michelangelo, after your travels across the
globe in order to study their artistic cultures and
philosophies, you decided one day to offer your
energy and your generosity in kneading
the paint. Without any concession, you use the noblest
materials, the most thorough techniques, and each
of your paintings makes us discover a joy, a feeling,
a word, a glance from the deepest of your being,
of your heart; without ever revealing the secret of how you master your
creative madness.
You are one of these artists that we recognize
often by their motor, so much famousness become intrinsically
linked to this fashion XXth century born
and which consists in sacrifying art to the contengencies of
marketing and banality.
To encourage Pierre Cherbit, is to recognize in his
works and in him the uncommon qualities of
intellectual and artistic rigor without which nothing is
great. It is also to sanction the value of the gift
of art which allows the humanity to progress.
The 'Société d’encouragement au Progrès'
therefore has the pleasure of awarding you a silver medal
with the hope of seeing you again." |
